Summer 2025 Plein Air Painting

with Brenno Kenji

This course offers an introduction to the theory and practice of outdoor oil painting (“en plein air”). We'll meet in person at various locations throughout the Seattle area. On this page, you’ll find details about the course and how to enroll. Once registered, you'll gain access to supplemental materials and a growing resource library designed to support and enrich your in-person experience.

  • The core course meets for four Saturdays, from 1:00–4:00 PM, on the following dates and at the following locations:

    • 7/26 – Gas Works Park

    • 8/2 – Richmond Beach Saltwater Park (Shoreline)

    • 8/9 – Lake Union Park

    • 8/16 – Bellevue Botanical Gardens (or TBD based on feedback of enrolled students)

In addition to these core sessions, students who wish to extend their practice are welcome to join two optional add-on sessions, held at the following locations:

    • 8/23 – Larrabee State Park (Bellingham)

    • 8/30 – Price Sculpture Forest (Whidbey Island)

Note: These add-on sessions are not included in the core course tuition. Full pricing details are listed in the next section.

Bonus note: While instruction officially runs from 1:00–4:00 PM each day, I often stay longer at the location. You're welcome to keep painting and receive additional feedback if you'd like.

  • You can register for the core course, with the option to add extra sessions if you'd like to continue your practice:

    • Core course (four 3-hour sessions; see dates and locations above): $300

    • Optional add-on sessions (for core course students only): $50 per session

Payment details and instructions are provided below.
